The Ahi Lani set her sights on fishing a full day in south Kona. Capt Cyrus had a feeling that there were large fish in the area. After marking sever large Marlin, this 500 pounder rose to feed. She kept for the stinger and missed. Immediately Capt Cyrus teased her back and the second bute sunk the hook deep in her bill. The angler hoped in the chair and the battle began. After about a 20 minute fight they were able to take their photos and set her free. Releasing the large females is critical to a sustainable fishery. Immediately after releasing her a large tuna hit the short rigger. Fishing in Kona can be a workout but the reward is always worth it.
